Nightshade \Night"shade`\, n. [AS. nichtscadu.] (Bot.)
A common name of many species of the genus {Solanum}, given
esp. to the {Solanum nigrum}, or black nightshade, a low,
branching weed with small white flowers and black berries
reputed to be poisonous.
