Monument \Mon"u*ment\, n. [F., fr. L. monumentum, fr. monere to
remind, admonish. See {Monition}, and cf. {Moniment}.]
1. Something which stands, or remains, to keep in remembrance
what is past; a memorial.

Of ancient British art A pleasing monument.
